ok Randall thanks from your point of view, but in terms of sound, I'm asking because I never play a vinnie colauita set , so I will trust in judment.

The Vinnie snare is a thivker shell, the kit is a regular gretsch thickness from what I understand and have seen at NAMM. How do they sound? Dunno, if edges are cut right they should sound really good. But that's allot of dough to shell on a sig kit.

Its the millenium snare that has a thicker shell the other shell is normal gretsch.

From waht time after is best not to buy a gretschdrum kit because I heard that thouse drums change the manufacturer, or something like that.....

Jasper whom used to supply Gretsch with their shells went out of business, now it's been said that G has plenty of Jasper shells left to make I dunno how many kits.
There is only I think 1 line maybe 2 using Jasper right now in the Gretsch line, the rest are Keller and or made overseas.
As to what year is good to buy? I guess any year is kewl but knowing that more than likely edges WILL have to recut and there could be problems with roundness.
gretsch is prone more so than any other company for terrible craftmenship period.
